Roasting beans, direct translation in Chinese is “fry beans”.

Do you know how roasters “fry” their coffee beans? By Chinese wok? Oven? Toaster? Pop-con machine?

Now that we have a chance to see a real coffee roaster. This mini-size roasting machine, which actually looks like a washing machine with the mark-six lottery feature. You will watch the whole process of green beans turned into tasty coffee in your cup.

This introductory workshop’s demonstration will expose participants to the roasting basics:

* basic concepts of the coffee roasting process,
* basic mechanics of heat transfer,
* what is first crack, second crack, do you actually hear them?
* physical differences in light- and dark-roasted coffees,

Second part of the event, we’ll have professional barista to brief you on the different coffee brewing methods, the definition of espresso, and how to make a good cup of coffee at home. You will taste a milk based (cappuccino) and a black brew coffee to better understand their general taste profile.

It’s a great entry-level experience for coffee lovers and enthusiasts. What’s more is that it’s fun! and you can meet new friends who love coffee too!
